our STORY
Watch our inspiring story. SWEL transforms the lives of veterans and first responders through the healing power of surfing.
PAST EVENTS
The idea for SWEL was born during a memorable surf trip to Southern California in 2019. While enjoying a meal by the ocean, three close friends, Reggie Tor-refranca, Rob Sanderson, and Adam Rosinsky reflected on their experiences. Against the backdrop of the soothing sound of the waves, they discussed the many challenges that servicemen and women encounter, emphasizing the importance of positive outlets and strong support systems to enhance their lives.
August 2020
SWEL Mission One
SWEL's first mission arose from the tragic loss of a Kansas City Metro police officer, a community pillar. The founders felt compelled to support his closest friends and fellow officers by providing them an opportunity to heal in the Pacific Ocean.

March 2024
A Coalition was Formed
SWEL has collaborated with several like-minded organizations along the West Coast. During a surf and camping trip, a coalition was formed with The Pendleton Surf Club, One More Wave, and Veterans Surf Alliance to host a military surf contest and camping trip.

May 2024
A Partnership with Surf City USA
SWEL began building relationships with Huntington Beach early on. By May 2024, this evolved into a partnership, with the City providing logistical support and unique experiences for participants, enhancing SWEL's mission.
